Last month, during the week of 14th-17th March, there was a traditional parade as well as shows, and of course, some good old drinking – in true Irish style.
This year’s festival followed the hugely successful 2007 equivalent, where over 10,000 people turned out for the two-hour parade. With more entrants lined up for this year’s parade on Water Street, this year’s event was a huge success.
On top of the traditional festivities, activities for all groups and ages were organized to make sure that it was a fun day for all involved. Special activities were organized for children as young as three, be it dressing up in fancy dress costume, to treasure hunts to find a leprechaun’s pot of gold.
For the slightly older crown, pubs and bars were filled with revelers celebrating the day whilst being entertained by numerous artists and bands performing, and for the first time ever in Las Vegas, there was a major car show at the end of the planned event.
There are not many snakes in Las Vegas… the revelers spent the weekend enjoying themselves, as opposed to chasing some reptiles out of the town, like Patrick did all those years ago.
Whether it’s drinking Irish Guinness, or eating Beef and Guinness pie, next year’s celebrations will undoubtedly be at least as raucous as this year’s celebration was.
